About Alexandra Barrett MBACP
Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist in Ruislip | Alexandra Barrett
I’m Aly, a registered MBACP Counsellor & Psychotherapist. I hold a BSc honours degree in Person-Centred Counselling, which is a Level 6 BACP accredited qualification. I have significant experience providing therapy for leading mental health organisations in London, and my private practice is based in Ruislip, where I see clients both in person and online.

My Clinical Approach
My counselling work is grounded in a pluralistic framework, meaning sessions are adjusted to a person’s individual needs. My main aim is to build a genuine, trusting relationship with my clients, working towards you feeling increasingly able to be honest and open within counselling sessions, at your own pace. I see positive change happen for people, when they feel a real sense of safety, acceptance and authenticity within the counselling relationship.
How we can work together
Our work will include talking therapy, and sometimes other ways of working therapeutically if appropriate. Some clients find mindfulness or simple somatic practices particularly helpful between counselling sessions.
I offer counselling in three different ways; in person, online and walk and talk outdoor therapy. Please arrange an initial consultation if you’d like to talk these options through.
To support my clients my practice is informed by my current training in Somatic Trauma Therapy, with Babette Rothschild (The Body Remembers & Revolutionising Trauma Treatment). This allows me to integrate safe nervous system regulation and body-awareness into our sessions.
If you would like to explore working together, you can arrange a 20-minute Zoom or phone call. It’s an opportunity to take the first step, think about what you are hoping to achieve, ask any questions you may have, or simply get a feel for whether working together feels right for you.
Professional Standards & Ethics
As an MBACP registered counsellor, I work strictly in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework and engage in regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development.
