FAQs

  • What happens in a class? Bring yoga mat and a blanket for comfort, and we start with some simple breathing exercises, followed by meditation or mindfulness practice (depending on the week), and then lie down for the Sound Bath part of the session.
  • My mind is always so busy, will I be able to relax? This is a very common concern and often we can gain even more benefit from meditating at times when life is very busy. Just as you would expect your body to build up to a new exercise such as running, we can give our minds a chance to adjust to meditation. With time and practice it will get much easier to let go of thoughts. Guided meditation helps with this, as it provides the mind with something to focus on, and may people find this easier in a group setting.
  • What is a sound bath? A sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, rattles and tuning forks.

  • What are the benefits of a Sound Bath? There are so many potential benefits, and people are often surprised at how powerful the sound is. The sound waves work to deepen relaxation, lower stress and anxiety, improve mood and wellbeing, can improve sleep, heighten focus and energy and give a feeling of rejuvenation.
  • Are you experienced? • What do I need to bring to a class? A yoga mat to lie on, a blanket, a bottle of water and possibly a pillow and some extra socks- it depends how chilly you tend to get and how much you want to carry. Whatever you need to help you relax.
  • Do I have to lie down? No, you can sit on a chair if it’s physically easier for you. It may still be a good idea to bring a blanket. The main aim is to feel totally comfortable and be able to relax.
